On this page the users will be able to search for the pronunciation of the headwords and will be able to download the .zip files with sound files.

Grant received :)
50000,- Isk grant from Students' fund has been received. We would like to begin working on Icelandic word sound database in the spring term 2010. Pdf files with headwords has been printed and are ready for reading. Thank you for joining the project and we are looking forward to working together.
Plan
We would like to record 22000 Icelandic headwords that belong in the frequency list to the most common Icelandic words. We need to find one or two native speakers to record the sound. The recording takes places three times in a week in the Language laboratory of the University of Iceland thanks to kind help of the department of Icelandic for the foreing students, namely Sigríður Þorvaldsdóttir. It is applied for a grant to Students's fund of University of Iceland that will be used to pay the native speakers for recording. All the recordings will be placed on internet under the GNU Public license.
